Improving Returns on Marketing

New research reveals North Wales businesses want better returns from their marketing
MORE than a third of North Wales businesses are unhappy with their marketing, and believe their products and services need improving.

Research commissioned by BDW Consulting found 37 per cent of organisations felt they were not getting a good return on their promotional investment.

A further 29 per cent believe they rely on too few customers, while nearly one in five said they lacked confidence to go after new business.

The survey questioned senior figures in 100 SMEs.

Fiona Trappe, managing director of BDW Consulting, said: “Many businesses in North Wales are dissatisfied about their returns from marketing.

“Many believe they’re doing the right things, but often it only needs a steer in a slightly different direction and business fortunes can improve dramatically.”

Organisations are confident about their reputation, with nearly 90 per cent believing it to be “very good” or “excellent.”

Fiona added: “This is interesting, since a recent survey by the CBI showed 82 per cent of the public thought businesses needed to do more to improve their reputation."

“Good reputation takes years to build and seconds to lose. If reputation management isn’t built into your business strategy, you risk business decisions having disastrous impacts on your reputation.”
